• Max Jan

    PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

Max is an Assistant Professor at HMS, Assistant Pathologist at MGH, and Molecular Pathologist at the Broad Institute. Max is from San Francisco and trained at Princeton (BA), Stanford (PhD), and UCSF (MD) before completing pathology residency/fellowship at MGH as well as postdoctoral training in the Maus and Ebert labs. Moving to New England, Max was pleasantly surprised by the surf, glad that the California dream lives on.

  • Ditsa Sarkar

    POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Ditsa grew up in Kolkata, India. She graduated from National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi (‘22) with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. Ditsa has always been intrigued by protein structure-function relationship and their role in disease progression. Her current research interest is to understand how targeted protein degradation can modulate immune cell programming in cancer patients. In her free time, Ditsa enjoys the outdoors, walking, painting and cooking.

  • Stephen Coscia

    POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Stephen earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Boston College and after post-baccalaureate research experiences at NYU and the NIH he began pursuing his PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology at the University of Pennsylvania. In his thesis work with Dr. Erika Holzbaur he studied mitochondria-cytoskeleton cross-talk utilizing different microscopy modalities. Now, Stephen is excited to think about inter-cellular interactions in the context of cancer immunology. When not in the lab he likes to be outdoors or just relax with his cat.

  • Emily Schneider

    Immunology/MSTP THESIS RESEARCHER

Emily is a joint member of the Maus and Jan labs. Emily is originally from Fairfax, VA and graduated from Princeton University (’18), where she studied Chemical and Biological Engineering. After undergrad, she moved up to Boston to work as a research associate in a cancer immunology lab at the Broad Institute. She is now an MD/PhD student in the Harvard-MIT program, working towards her PhD in Immunology. Outside the lab, you can find her hiking, skiing, cooking, and making friends with dogs she meets on the sidewalk.

  • Noor Radde

    BBS THESIS RESEARCHER

Noor graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (‘21) where she studied microbiology and infectious diseases. There, she dabbled in a few research areas involving plant genetics and microbiology. She is now a graduate student in the Harvard BBS program and is broadly interested in applied immunology and bacteriology. In her free time, she enjoys painting, embroidering, and wandering around the city.

  • Gabriele Kembuan

    MASTERS THESIS RESEARCHER

Gabby grew up in Indonesia, where she graduated with her B.Med & MD degrees from Airlangga University and Hasanuddin University. Having completed her MMSc in Immunology at Harvard Medical School in 2023, she stays on in the lab to continue developing more efficacious CAR T cell therapies to overcome immunosuppression in tumors and reduce potential side effects. In her free time, Gabby loves reading, baking, trying out new food, and taking care of her houseplants.

  • Jo Kim

    RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Jo is from Edina, Minnesota and graduated from Williams College (’22) with a B.A in Biology. For her, translational science, especially cancer therapy, has always been a fascinating subject. Jo’s current research interests reside in exploring how targeted protein degradation can benefit immune cell programming in cancer patients. In her free time, she enjoys playing golf, snowboarding, flower arranging, and coffee brewing.

  • Manuella Talla

    RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Manuella grew up in Maryland, Italy, and Madagascar and is originally from Cameroon. She graduated from Brown University (‘23) with a B.S. in Immunobiology. Manuella’s research interests lie in the complexities of the tumor microenvironment and in cancer immunotherapies such as CAR-T cell therapy. She is also interested in increasing access to cancer care. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, cooking, taking walks, listening to podcasts, and playing basketball.

  • William Lin

    UNDERGRADUATE THESIS RESEARCHER

Will is from Princeton, NJ, and is a rising senior at Brown University studying biochemistry and molecular biology. He is interested in using CRISPR technology to improve the efficacy and reduce the costs associated with cancer care for patients. Outside of the lab Will can be found practicing with the Brown fencing team, exploring Providence and Boston, and improving his Spanish and Chinese language skills.

  • Chloe

Chloe can’t believe she isn’t top row material after all that she’s done for the lab. In addition to keeping the PI humble one poop at a time and by random acts of disobedience, she makes time to attend various lab functions and even summertime outdoor lab meetings. Her interests are being hand-fed corn on the cob, game theory, fast cars, and shopping.

Alumni

  • Isabel Lane

Isabel matriculated to the University of Washington Immunology Ph.D. program in 2023. Isabel grew up in Zurich, Switzerland. She graduated from Williams College (’21) with a BA in Biology and Music. Isabel finds the intricacy of molecular biology fascinating, and her research interests lie in refining CAR T cell therapies to increase options for and efficacy of cancer care. Outside of the lab, she enjoys being outdoors, running, biking and skiing, as well as playing the double bass.
